A few things to know about this cheeseplate blog:
I am not a food critic. Nor am I someone who believes that other people will actually read this site regularly. Rather, I am an unabashed lover of cheese who occasionally gets worked up about how nice a cheeseplate can be. I believe cheeseplatery is, in fact, a fine art. Problem is - I usually forget the name, country of origin, and animal involved in the cheeses I like best. Tragic really.
So this, like every other blog, is a selfish endeavor. I want somewhere to write down enough about the cheeseplates that I've eaten that I actually learn which cheeses I like by name, animal, and country. I want to remember which ones taste good together and which ones are like friends that you make a point of hanging out with on different nights. Generally, I don't bother with brand names, but assume that if you were looking for the best brand of a cheese for your cheesplate, you would be going to a more respectable web page than this one.
Finally, I live in DC, so most of the restaurants you see here are DC joints. Most are locally owned, but I think some are part of larger chains or families. Occasionally a non DC place will pop up, but I'll label it.
That's about it. Special shout out to my husband for buying me the cheeseplates.net URL for Christmas.
Enjoy your cheeses! (I know I do)
